Story View feature was first launched by Snapchat as Snapchat Stories and later "adopted" and catapulted by Instagram as Instagram Stories. The popularity of this feature lies in the fact that Stories are short, photo and video-based posts that appear in a separate feed from the main feed and disappear after 24 hours. Stories, can be easily shot and decorated right in the app. Thus, there is no pressure on the user to post "worthy" images which stay on the profile permanently.

The Story Feed is also very user-friendly and easy to navigate. Users can open the app and see all the most recent stories from the people they follow at the top of the screen. One can scroll through these stories to watch them, or tap on one to view it in fullscreen. At the top of the screen, a bar shows the progress of the story, and it can be tapped to skip ahead or go back.
